Overwhelmingly, by any standard, the best summer tech program in Boston...and kids love it!!!

We were thrilled to be ranked the #1 co-ed 3D summer tech program for kids in grades 5 through 12 in the Boston area by Hulafrog.

Then watch our video to see the amazing thing your kids can do and learn with us this summer.

Kids learn 3D everything in our weekly & bi-weekly 3D Summer Tech Camp our of our 2,000 s.f. state of the art animation studio (now in Needham). Campers receive student licenses to Cinema 4D with literally hundreds to professional digital media projects for their personal use. Newton Animations' Kids Digital U is the only accredited Cinema 4D school in all of New England. To supplement the traditional learning experience, kids use truly cutting edge three dimensional technologies like motion capture, 3D scanning and virtual reality. We are the only program in all of New England that offers these technologies. Kids will interact within their own physics based (using motion capture) virtual reality experience. We have also made an enormous investment in the latest in  3D technologies. We're keeping it a surprise until the summer. It will knock our student's socks off. It is jaw dropping cool. Lastly, with the largest 3D printing lab for kids in the state, your child will share one 3D printer with at most one other student. Our summer program is now legendary and we encourage you to compare any attribute of our program to any other in the Boston area. Lastly, we encourage you to read the glowing feedback for yourself, from parents/guardians like yourself, about our summer programs on our Facebook page.

Why Kids Digital U 3D Summer Tech Camps?

6. Lowest teacher to staff ratio (by far). We've never been more than 1 teacher for every 4 campers (we're usually 1 for every 3). One program actually boasts their 1 teacher for every 8 students is their competitive advantage. Ask around. We provide plenty of attention to every student.

7. Largest 3D printing lab (for kids) in the state. We love our MakerBot 3D printing lab. Your child/children will share one 3D printer with at most one other student. We can do this because we're here all year and can rent out our machines during the traditional school year.

8. Cinema 4D student licenses. All campers receive an 18 month student license to Cinema 4D, generally considered the best 3D software in the world. We are the only accredited Cinema 4D school (for kids) in all of New England.

9. Professional digital media/3D projects. Kids receive literally hundreds of commercial projects for their personal use. There is no summer program in Boston that offers such projects.

10. Computer processing power. We maintain one of the largest private render farms with hundreds of proccesing cores to produce animation in minutes that would take days via a typical personal computer.

11. Unpromised surprises. Every year we surprise our students with a large, unannounced  investment and roll out of a new technology at the start of every summer. While we make no promises we expect to introduce a stunning new technology again this coming summer of 2017. STAY TUNED!!!

1. Commitment to our program. We're here all year round while the other area tech camps rent space for the summer and hire public school teachers to run their camps. While we have our own children and think the world of public school teachers, we are personally committed to our success. We are certain we have more at stake than our peers.

2. We love teaching kids. Newton Animations/Kids Digital U was founded almost by accident. Our founder was looking for a way to invest productive time with his pre-teen and teenage daughters. It was so successful others kids/teens asked if they could learn digital media.

3. Most advanced technologies. There is no program in the country that has invested in advanced 3D & digital media technologies for kids to our scale. We've invested well over $200,000 in our systems to date. No where but our program will your kids have access to such state of the art equipment.

4. Lowest tuitions (by far). One program we know of charges $3,200 for two weeks (versus us at $1,400) that hires staff from the same pool of candidates we do and does not nearly offer the advanced systems we do.

5. Breadth of technologies. Some programs focus an entire week on one 3D application (i.e. 3D printing). We offer more opportunity than any like camp. Some students some here for virtual reality but then find they like 3D design & printing more than they thought. Kids can do as little or as much as they please and change their minds daily. We love it.

What Kids Learn & Do in our 3D Summer Tech Camp.

Kids Digital U (aka Newton Animations) has been a pioneer in computer programming, 3D design & animation, video gaming, 3D printing, virtual reality and digital arts learning systems for kids. Our 3D Summer Tech Camp draws on the very basics of all of these particulars. Specifically kids learn the basics of 3D design & animation from scratch. Kids are provided an overview of how to design a 3D object and how to position, scale and rotate that object in three dimensional space via the X, Y & Z axis. Kids then learn how to parent a group of raw objects into a 3D design and animation. By the end of the first day kids know how to parent a set of eyes, nose and mouth to a head. They animate the head going from the left side of the screen to the right side while the eyes look up and down in synch (the eyes, nose and mouth follow the head). Students who have been with us since the beginning 3 years ago still do this basic exercise at the start of every class. Students then learn to make a simple solar system project with the moon rotating around the earth while the earth rotates around a sun. It is a very rare circumstance a student is unable to learn these simple yet very important skill sets via our program by the end of their first day or at worst the second morning. It has been our experience that when a student can accomplish these projects they are very much on their way. We then get into the more fun functionality of today's 3D systems. Over the rest of the week kids learn how to use deformers to make their objects do goofy things (like bend, twist, melt, explode etc.). As the week progresses we get into creating materials (using color, reflection, lighting, even hair), introducing intermediate tools like cloning objects, using physics tools to emulate gravity and how to make engaging text driven projects. Kids learn how to package their projects and render them to an actual video that can be shared with others or uploaded to YouTube. The first part of every morning and afternoon is usually focused on learning via practicing on a PC while the latter half of the mornings and afternoons are focused on using the advanced 3D technologies in our animation studio whether learning how to set up a 3D print, exporting an animation project to our virtual reality systems or using motion capture to creating a 3D character animation. Students with us for 2 weeks will learn the more advanced functionality of all of our systems.

Our Typical Day

We offer weekly and bi-weekly programs for students grades 5 & up and grades 8 & up all summer long. A student in grade 4 may enroll as long as he/she has an older sibling attending our camp the same week. Students bring their own lunches and snacks. We maintain plenty of water and simple snacks like goldfish & pretzels for attendees. As noted in the outline of our typical day above, students have a morning snack, lunch and an afternoon snack. Please also note we have students with severe food allergies. We maintain a nut & shellfish (of any kind), sesame and guacamole free studio. We do offer an early drop off program where students may be dropped off at 7:30 AM and a late pick up option where students stay from 4 to 6 PM for $99 per option per week. Please let us know as soon as possible if you need an early drop off and/or late pick up so we can staff accordingly (our staff generally arrives at 8:30 AM and leaves at 4:15 PM for the day. Please call us at 781-708-1255 if you have any questions.
